If you’ll be traveling to
Gatlinburg TN in December then you
couldn’t pick a better time to visit! This month is full of events
and activities to do that the whole family can enjoy. It’s the
Christmas season and the town is full of holiday cheer. Join in the
celebration and cheer by visiting Gatlinburg during this month.
We’re confident that you’ll have a great time!
The best way to start your winter morning off is with a cup of
coffee or hot chocolate. If you are in a cabin or condo with a
mountain view you can sit out on the deck and watch as the sun rises
with your loved ones. A great way to visit the mountains is to stay
in a cabin or condo IN the mountains with great views. Take in the
fresh mountain air and then get ready for your day out in
Gatlinburg.
There are so many things to do while visiting Gatlinburg in
December. The best time to come is during the Christmas season.
Gatlinburg really gets into the spirit by lighting up over 2 million
lights on their Christmas displays throughout town. It’s great to
ride through the Parkway in Gatlinburg and along the roads in the
Arts and Crafts Community to see all the beautiful light displays.
There will also be Christmas Hayrides that depart from traffic light
#6 in Gatlinburg and takes you on a ride to see all the beautiful
winter views of Gatlinburg. These rides will take place Sundays
through Thursdays starting at 5:30pm and ending at 9pm. If you want
to take a ride and see the lights but don’t want to drive or ride on
the hayride then take a ride on the Winterfest Trolley of Lights.
This guided tour starts at the Courtesy Center at traffic light #3
and the ride leaves from there. Santa knows Gatlinburg is a great
place to visit as well! He will be at Riverbend Mall during December
to sign autographs.
Plenty of shows will be going on as well to celebrate the season.
The Great Smoky Arts and Crafts Community Christmas Crafts show will
be held during December at the Gatlinburg Convention Center. See
many of their displays, watch as they make their goods and buy some
of their souvenirs to take home with you. Also in December
Gatlinburg’s another Annual “Fantasy of Lights” Christmas Play. The
theme of the parade is “I’ll be home with Bells on”. There will be
colorfully decorated floats, bands and giant balloons floating
through the Parkway in downtown Gatlinburg. Be ready for this parade
by 7:30pm or you’ll miss the whole show! Perhaps one of the most
popular shows is the New Year’s Ball Drop and Pyrotechnic Show. Over
100,000 people will be in downtown Gatlinburg near the Space needle
to watch the ball drop on New Year’s and see the pyrotechnic show
that starts when the clock strikes midnight. All of downtown
Gatlinburg will become a big street party after that to celebrate
the new year!
The weather is cold at this time, it IS winter. You’ll want to
bring plenty of clothes to keep warm in this cool, crisp weather.
Take a walk along the Parkway is always a great idea when you have a
little extra energy left over from all the activities you’ve been
doing all day. After the day is over head back to your cabin or
condo to enjoy the fireplace and company of your loved ones. If you
have a hot tub then get in and relax after your long day. Take in
the air and watch as the sun sets in the distance. Also, you should
consider reserving a
Gatlinburg cabin with a fireplace.
