Smoky Mountain Harvest Festival

September is near in Gatlinburg Tennessee and the Smoky Mountain Harvest Festival is right around the corner. The leaves are changing around that time of year and fall is in the air. The locals around Gatlinburg are decorating for the season change. Vibrant orange, yellow and brown colors start to dominate the store fronts of Gatlinburg shops as well as the mountain sides and the trees in between. The weather is inviting around the fall season as well. September has warm days and cool nights. October has warm weather as well but it starts to cool down as winter creeps up.

The Smoky Mountain Harvest Festival is highlighted by special events, entertainment, decorations, exhibits and of course the leaves changing colors. The Arts and Crafts Community of Gatlinburg invites all visitors to head out to their 8 mile loop on Glade’s Road and see what they have to offer for the season. They have plenty of crafts for you to choose from including their pottery, candles, purses, clothing, wood-working, candy making, brooms, pictures, etc. All of their crafts will reflect the colors of Gatlinburg for this season. If you don’t buy anything you can watch as they create their masterpieces.

The Old-Fashion Hayrides begin in September and last throughout October. There will be hayrides starting at traffic light #6 in Gatlinburg and the rides will leave every 45 minutes. These rides are every Thursday through Sunday from 5-9 pm. If you’re in town these days then be sure you and your loved ones try out the hayride. It will be a lot of fun and it’s something everyone in the family can enjoy. The Run For The Hills 10K will be held on September 23 this year. This is a race for anyone to sign up for. It will begin in the early morning downtown and takes the runners through Dudley Creek Bypass and ending at Mynatt Park. Prizes will be awarded to winners of different divisions. The Taste of Autumn Benefit will take place on September 27 and will include many restaurants offering the favorites from their menus and a live auction will occur. The United Way of Sevier County is having the Gatlinburg Shark Race on September 29. Rubber sharks will be released and the owner of first one to cross the line will win $10,000 CASH.

During the fall is a popular time to visit Gatlinburg TN. Everyone wants to see the beautiful scenery of the fall. Leaves are changing colors giving the mountains an orange, yellow and brown color. Gatlinburg Craftsmen Fair

Gatlinburg Tennessee is known for many popular events and the Gatlinburg Craftsmen Fair is no exception. The Gatlinburg Craftsmen Fair is one of the southeast’s most popular, and favorite events. Twice a year vendors get together to show off their wonderful displays of artwork. This yearly event has something to offer every age group. Promoters of the fair, Sam and Tracey Large, have developed a wonderful event that attracts the world’s finest artists. The vendors at the Gatlinburg Craftsmen Fair not only have their artwork available for your viewing pleasure but the beautiful arts and crafts will be on sale for you to take home a memorable souvenir. At the Gatlinburg Craftsmen Fair not only can you enjoy viewing and purchasing beautiful artwork but you can stand by and watch as these popular vendors demonstrate their special skills. Art is not the only thing special about the Gatlinburg Craftsmen Fair, various musical shows are scheduled for the week. On July 18th through the 22nd you can enjoy music from Dennis Lee and his band; then as the week continues from July 23rd through July 27th with Keith Longbotham and band. Show times for the bluegrass bands are at 1:00, 3:00 and 5:00 PM daily and at 1:00 and 3:00 PM on Sundays. This wonderful music will just add to your Gatlinburg Craftsmen Fair experience. The summer 2008 Craftsmen Fair is scheduled for July 18th through July 22nd. The Gatlinburg Craftsmen Fair opens daily at 10:00 AM and closes at 7:00 PM. Sundays the Craftsmen Fair is open from 10:00 AM to 5:00 PM. Adult admission to the Gatlinburg Craftsmen Fair is $5.00 and children 12 and under are free. The Gatlinburg Craftsmen Fair is held at the Gatlinburg Convention Center in downtown Gatlinburg TN at traffic light number eight.
