Gatlinburg TN - Annual Sparkle Days

Gatlinburg TN – During the month of March business owners and residents will spend time cleaning Gatlinburg and preparing the city for tourist peak season. Sparkle Day’s 2007, what Gatlinburg TN is calling this year’s event, has been scheduled for March 19 – 30. During Sparkle days, just like the previous 27 years, the Gatlinburg TN sanitation department will pick up, for free, items that are not normally included in garbage pickup. Scrap metal, appliances, weather debris, and even old junky cars will be picked up. All you need to do it place the garbage on a Gatlinburg TN city street and the city will do the rest. The only thing that the city will not pick up is debris from remolding, demolition projects, tires and old paint. Like most years in the past, the first week of Sparkle Days will be used for commercial pick up, and the second week will be used for residential pick up. Residential pick starts on March 26. Anyone who is interested in scheduling a pick up time should call the Gatlinburg TN sanitation department at 436-5959. Lastly, the Gatlinburg recreation department is trying to encourage residents to join together in large pick up groups. These groups can pick up large scale trash bags from the department.
